Moroso furniture

I want to take a moment and salute the company, Moroso, because of its many creative furniture styles. Below are my favourite of their designs. I am especially smitten with the blue sofa which is the first picture. The scaling, the different heights might have gone horribly wrong, but they made it work so well. I just damn the fact that all their furniture are beyond my reach; I  wish they were not so freaking expensive.

IKEA's new lamp

I am not a decor snob. I love whatever appeals to my personal taste, regardless of its price tag and brand name (actually I cringe when people trend-shop, and I also do not care for logos on anything because they just seem like walking advertisements. If there is a shirt with a visible logo on the outside of it, it turns me off, even if it is a brand I generally like, and I end up not buying it). Speaking of affordable buys, I have so many stuff from IKEA and Target, some I kept them as is, some I transformed into  more personalized, D.I.Y. projects. I mean I really try to get the best possible deal for whatever I like, so if I find something cool at a cheap place, I grab it, always have and always will. It is all about whether I fancy the item or not, and not where it came from.

I was looking at IKEA's website and in their new products section, I came across this lamp, which is so Scandinavian looking, as it should since it is IKEA and all, and it's very modern, crisp looking with a cute design. Now, granted I have not seen it in person, but I really like it in the pictures, although we all know pics can be deceiving sometimes. It is called Torna lamp, and it is $69.99, which is kinda high for IKEA, so I would wait till it goes on sale....Speaking of IKEA, I am known to go there just for food; the Swedish meatballs and the Almondy Daim almond tart, which I have been officially addicted to for years, are just enough reasons to make the trip to Red Hook in Brooklyn. Before the Red Hook one, I used to go to the Newark, NJ store or the one in Long island, even JUST FOR FOOD!
By the way, I am editing this post with good news.

I recently launched my online home decor store, ENVILU, where you can find unique, interesting European and American brands. We sell not only home decor items, but also jewelry and pet products. So please check it out, and enjoy 20% off on your first order with coupon code EN1ST.

My current unicahome.com crushes

I really enjoy browsing the pages of unicahome. One of my many favourites on that site is this armchair. I don't usually care for black leather chairs, but this design won me over. It is Monster chair by Marcel Wander.

This armchair and sofa by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Established & sons which you can also find here at unicahome.com are just too beautiful and inspiring. They sure are expensive but it is free to dream and drool.

And  this peacock armchair by Cappellini is so very cool and resembles so many things in an inventive way. I do wonder though how dusty it would get inside each of those accordion-like crumpled sheets of felt.

And lastly, they have sale on fast vases by Rosenthal. I already had my share of decor purchases for the month; otherwise I would be getting them. But I do want to eventually buy them one day. The idea and execution are so very interesting. They would give dynamics to a clean-minimalist decor, and I can make them work with my not-so-minimalist-because-I-fall-in-love-with-a-lot-more-things-than-a-handful-items  home decor.

Nice clock.....Yes, it IS a clock.

I came across this beautiful carousel clock by Taipei designer Griffin Yang of Haoshi Design on A+R Store. Had to share it, because I found it interesting that at first glance it did not give the impression that it was actually a clock. I really like the delicate details, the snowy white look; and its function as a clock is just a bonus.

Apparently the numbers on the pillars represent time. The boy is the second hand. The mother, always keeping up with her child, is the minute hand and the father, according to Griffin, tells time by the hour as he steadily cares for his family.

Cool lamps

I have a mild obsession with lamps, which means there will be a lot more lamp posts in the future of this blog. As long as creative minds are out there coming up with fresh, new designs every day, my hunger will only keep growing. Here are my latest finds:

This Spun table lamp with aluminum shade is designed by Jonah Takagi.

Our next lovely is a Foscarini Coco table lamp designed by Aldo Cibic. Ah, that metallic red is calling me. You can check it out at utilitydesign.co.uk.

The next one is by Diesel with Foscarini, called Perf  table lamp. You can have a looksee at madeindesign.co.uk.

And last, but not least, I have for you a floor lamp by Eggdesigns.co.za. The inspiration for this Rosette floor lamp was, as one might guess, old-fashioned swimming caps. So adorable.

Suzani upholstered furniture such as Bokja chairs & how you can DIY it.

I like suzani pillows and furniture upholstered with suzani fabrics. Design duo Bokja have shown to do a marvelous job with that. You can see pictures of their work below, but as some of you may know, their furniture pieces are veeeery expensive. In that case it may be a D.I.Y project for you in the waiting. You can buy an arm chair at a flea market or second-hand store or IKEA; make sure you really love the skeleton and structure of it, then you can get suzani fabrics from sites like this, and have the chair upholstered. You will save TONS of money and achieve as great a look. I have not done this myself but sometime in the future I intend to.

Oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip cookies recipe

My first food post will be a recipe that is beyond delicious. I came up with this recipe after trying a couple of different recipes. This one is just perfection.

I also took a picture of it from the batch I baked today. :)

Oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (mouthful, I know)
1/2 cup low-fat peanut butter
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons Truvia (which is a natural sweetener)
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup almond milk
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix all ingredients. I like cookies on the chewier and bigger side, so I make 6 big and thickish cookies out of this batter, but you can make 12 smaller, thinner ones too, if you like.

Bake for 23 minutes. Then let them cool, although I dive into them before they are entirely cool, as they are the yummiest when they are warm.
