My side table in my living room

I am not that big of a fan of white, but somehow I ended up with this lovely side table vignette in my living room. The bird porcelain box and the decanter are both by Jonathan Adler. The half-porcelain-half-glass vase is by Chapeaux. The table has a glass top, and underneath you can see pebbles painted in silver, with rusty, oxidized-looking in-betweens.

Someone pinch me! I feel like I just got a great birthday present, even though that dreaded date is in December. I went to Jonathan Adler's warehouse sale which is being held in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This was the first day, and I went there 15 min before the opening time, thinking I would be there like a lone bird waiting in front of the gate, but there were almost 50 people already in line when I got there. When they let us in, everyone rushed in. There were so many things on display; pottery, furniture, lighting, etc, but I used my laser eyes to quickly scan the setup and went for what I came for, and lucky me because the faces vase (Dora Maar vase) and the rhino box were only one each on display, which means I was lucky to grab them as early as I did, because they are such sought after pieces.

And this is the awesome craziness of it all: had I bought them all at retail value in store, the cost would have been $ 800, but I only paid $ 120. Another way to look at it is what I paid for all of them is less than half of the store price for the Dora Maar vase.

The sale will continue until the end of May 22. It is at 513 Irving avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

I am editing this post to add that I went to the sale again, because there were a few things that I had passed yesterday, as they were not on my immediate to-buy list, but after re-considering  (especially keeping in mind the price, which is a great value), I decided to go get them. So here they are in the picture below. The store value for all those in the picture below is $ 170, while I paid only $ 25 for all of them.

Daily decor finds

I am so giddy over these new finds.

Check out these wonderful and colorful drawers, tables and chairs by Seletti.

These white porcelain bowl and vases look instantly interesting with that pop of color on them.

This whimsical lamp by Mathieu Challières is lovely. In the description on The Conran Shop's page, it says it has "faux" birds. Faux...No kidding.

These balloon dogs are terribly cute (and of course, it is no balloon. It is the resin bookend version of artist Jeff Koons' "balloon dog" sculpture. It would work as a great decor piece on any shelf).

These faceted geo planters at Sprout Home  break the mold of generic terracotta pots.

My current unicahome.com crushes

I really enjoy browsing the pages of unicahome. One of my many favourites on that site is this armchair. I don't usually care for black leather chairs, but this design won me over. It is Monster chair by Marcel Wander.

 

This armchair and sofa by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Established & sons which you can also find here at unicahome.com are just too beautiful and inspiring. They sure are expensive but it is free to dream and drool.

 

And  this peacock armchair by Cappellini is so very cool and resembles so many things in an inventive way. I do wonder though how dusty it would get inside each of those accordion-like crumpled sheets of felt. 

And lastly, they have sale on fast vases by Rosenthal. I already had my share of decor purchases for the month; otherwise I would be getting them. But I do want to eventually buy them one day. The idea and execution are so very interesting. They would give dynamics to a clean-minimalist decor, and I can make them work with my not-so-minimalist-because-I-fall-in-love-with-a-lot-more-things-than-a-handful-items  home decor.
